City Trip Leiden

Dear Students!!

ESN would like to take you on an amazing city trip to LEIDEN! This is a beautiful city with allot of culture and a great history. We start at the central station (Leiden Centraal) at 14:00, we will leave then so make sure you are on time! The first stop will be the museum Volkenkunde, they have at the moment Terracotta Warriors from China in Leiden, a small exhibition presenting contemporary Indian jewellery and many more exhibitions. The second activity will be a city trip though Leiden, we will show you the 9 keys of Leiden. The keys are an important mark for the city these are the city weapon. Walking around Leiden, the city's glorious history seems to come to life. The Academiegebouw, which is the ceremonial seat of the university, De Waag (the Weigh house), De Burcht (the Citadel), the stately mansions lining the famous Rapenburg canal, the beautiful Pieterskerk (church of Peter), the Hooglandse kerk (Highland church), and the 35 hofjes or almshouses in the city all tell the story of Leiden's history. After this nice but exhausting day we will get a pancake in a famous Pancake house(Pannekoeken boederij), you will see that everything is possible to put on a pancake, there are more than 100 different kind of pancakes. (The pancake house is on own expensive, but the pancakes aren’t expensive around 10 Euros.)

And of course if you like, feel free to get a drink in the city afterwards, there is a broad offer of cafes, pubs and cocktail bars!
